We’re an independent PGT service in Long Beach, and we repair and install PGT products across the city, from Bluff Park to Belmont Heights to the inland tracts. Our techs have years of hands-on time with PGT WinGuard impact lines, the 7700 Series aluminum windows, and Eze-Breeze sliders, which means we know exactly how salt air and humidity stress these units. We’re not a PGT dealer or authorized warranty center, but we know these products well enough to fix them properly and tell you honestly when a repair makes more sense than a replacement.
If you have a PGT window fogging between the panes, a slider that binds, or a lock that no longer engages, call us at (562) 912-3327. Keith Yamada leads our Long Beach team, and he measures twice before any crew loads the truck.
Why Trust Lightwell Windows Long Beach for Your PGT Windows & Doors?
PGT builds impact-rated windows and doors that do a lot of work in coastal climates, and they do that work differently depending on the product line. A WinGuard vinyl casement has a different frame tolerance and seal system than a 7700 Series aluminum horizontal roller. A tech who only knows one of those products is going to misdiagnose the other. We service both regularly here in Long Beach, which means our first visit usually gets to the real problem instead of a guess.
Keith Yamada grew up in the San Gabriel Valley, where old houses meant somebody was always replacing a window or rescreening a door. He paid attention. He trained formally at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, where the instruction was patient and the tolerances were tight, and he brought that same precision into the field across Long Beach. For years now, he’s worked on older craftsman and mid-century homes in Wrigley and beyond, where original frames tell you a lot about how a house was meant to breathe.
As an independent PGT service provider, we’re not bound to a corporate script. We use genuine PGT parts when they’re available, and when an older series is discontinued, we source aftermarket components that meet or exceed original specs. Our written price comes before any work starts, the 365-Day Done Right Promise covers every job, and a live person answers our phone around the clock.
One more thing Keith will tell you himself: when the light moves right through a room, the window is doing its job. That’s the standard we’re working toward.

Common PGT Windows & Doors Problems We Fix in Long Beach
Long Beach’s marine layer doesn’t punish windows with extreme heat or cold. What it does do is settle moisture and salt onto everything, every day. Here are the PGT issues we see most often in this city:
- Fogging between panes on PGT WinGuard vinyl casements. The insulated glass unit (IGU) has a spacer seal around its perimeter. In Long Beach’s humid, salt-heavy air, those seals fail faster than they would inland. Once the seal goes, moisture works its way between the panes and the window fogs permanently. We replace the IGU rather than the whole sash when the frame is sound.
- Corroded lock hardware and clogged weep systems on PGT 7700 Series aluminum windows. The 7700 is a workhorse, but its original lock hardware was never designed for daily exposure to salt air. Pitting and corrosion prevent the lock from engaging. Weep holes at the sill, meant to drain condensation and rain, fill with salt, dust, and grime. We clear the weeps and swap in corrosion-resistant stainless hardware.
- Sticking or binding horizontal roller windows. Older PGT rollers wear down, and debris in the track compounds the problem. The window still works, but it takes a shoulder to open. We replace the rollers with aftermarket units that match or exceed factory spec, and we clean the track properly rather than just spraying lubricant on top of grit.
- De-laminated glass edges on older impact-rated PGT units. Laminated glass gets its impact strength from a plastic interlayer bonded between two panes. After years of coastal humidity, that bond can separate at the edges. The window looks fine until you ask it to do its job in a storm. This is a real safety issue, and it usually requires a new IGU or full sash replacement to restore the impact rating.
- Failed weatherstripping and compromised seals. PGT windows rely on compression seals at the sash meeting rails and jambs. Salt air and UV degrade those seals over time, allowing drafts and moisture. Replacing the weatherstripping is often a same-visit fix that makes a bigger difference in comfort and energy cost than owners expect.
If any of these sound familiar, call (562) 912-3327 for a written estimate. We’ll tell you what’s actually wrong before we touch anything.
PGT Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach
We source genuine PGT parts whenever they’re available through our supply channels. For older, discontinued series, PGT no longer manufactures certain rollers, locks, and seal kits. In those cases, we use aftermarket components from manufacturers that spec to PGT dimensions and performance standards. We don’t use generic hardware-store parts and hope for the best. If an older lock or roller can’t be replaced with a part that genuinely fits and functions, we tell you that before ordering anything.
Our default is repair. If the frame is square and sound, if the sash closes and locks, if the glass edge seals are intact, we repair. Our Window Replacement services only become the recommendation when structural integrity can’t be restored, or when an impact rating is compromised and a new IGU or sash is the only way to get it back. We’ll show you the damaged part and explain why. The decision is yours, made with a written price in hand, not pressure.
Call (562) 912-3327 and Keith or a member of his team will walk through what we’re seeing at your house before any work gets scheduled.
Our PGT Service Process – Step by Step
Every PGT job in Long Beach follows the same path, whether it’s a fogged WinGuard casement near Naples Island or a binding 7700 slider in Bixby Knolls:
- 1
Diagnosis. We inspect the unit, identify the specific PGT model and series, and determine the failure mode. For a fogged unit, we check the frame, the spacer seal, and the glass edge. For a binding roller, we check the wheels, the track, and the sash alignment. We name exactly what will be touched inside the home before we touch it.
- 2
Written price. You get a line-item price before any work starts. No open-ended estimate, no number that shifts at the end of the job. Keith’s rule is simple: explain the price before the work, and stand behind it when the work is done.
- 3
Repair or install. We protect floors with drop cloths, wear shoe covers on every visit, and keep tools quiet during nap hours when possible. For repairs, we remove the sash or IGU, install the new parts or glass, and reassemble carefully. For installs, we follow the same care with the added step of squaring and shimming the frame correctly before sealing.
- 4
Test and verify. Every repaired or installed PGT window gets opened, closed, locked, and checked for seal integrity before we call it done. On impact-rated units, we confirm the glass and frame are restored to their rated condition.
- 5
Warranty and cleanup. Every job carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it’s not right, we make it right. Before the crew leaves, you get a photo of the clean-up. Floors, furniture, pets, kids’ sleep schedules: all accounted for.

AfterPGT Products We Service & Install in Long Beach
We work on the PGT lines most common in Long Beach homes:
- PGT WinGuard Aluminum Impact Windows. Popular in coastal and flood-zone areas. We handle glass replacement, hardware swaps, and full-frame installs.
- PGT WinGuard Vinyl Impact Windows. Replacement IGUs, seal repair, sash work, and new installations. The most common fogging and seal issues we see in Long Beach come from this line.
- PGT 7700 Series Aluminum Windows. Rollers, locks, weep cleaning, weatherstripping, and full unit replacement when needed.
- PGT Eze-Breeze Sliding Vinyl Windows. Common in enclosed porches and sunrooms. We service and install these even when the original installer is no longer around.
We keep common PGT-compatible rollers, locks, weatherstripping, and marine-grade sealants stocked locally so we’re not waiting on a shipment for routine hardware replacements.
We Also Service These Brands
PGT is one of eight manufacturer brands we carry and service. We also work on CGI, CWS, ES Windows, and ECO Window Systems products. The recommendation should fit the home and its location, not the installer’s preferred vendor. If your house has a different brand in place, chances are we service that too.
FAQs – PGT Windows & Doors Service in Long Beach
In most cases, yes, we can replace just the insulated glass unit without changing the sash. As long as the frame and sash are structurally sound, we remove the affected IGU, install a new impact-rated unit, and reseal with marine-grade sealant. If the laminated glass edges have de-laminated, the entire IGU must go. If the sash itself is compromised, we’ll tell you and show you why. Call (562) 912-3327 for an exact assessment and quote.
Binding on a 7700 roller is almost always worn rollers plus debris in the track, often compounded by salt buildup from Long Beach’s air. The fix is usually straightforward: clean the track completely, replace the worn rollers with PGT-compatible units, and adjust the sash. You almost never need a whole new window for this. Call (562) 912-3327 and we’ll take a look.
Yes. Eze-Breeze sliders are straightforward vinyl units, and we service them regardless of who installed the porch. We can replace rollers, adjust panels, and swap weatherstripping. We don’t need the original installer’s records to fix the problem. Call (562) 912-3327 for a free estimate.
It is possible to replace the damaged IGU and restore the impact rating, but it requires new laminated glass. De-lamination is not something you can reverse with a sealant or adhesive. We source impact-rated replacement glass that meets PGT’s original specifications and install it correctly in the existing frame when the frame’s integrity is intact. Call (562) 912-3327 and we’ll assess the unit and give you a written price.
Yes. For discontinued PGT series, we source aftermarket locks, rollers, and seal kits manufactured to the original dimensions and performance requirements. We don’t install generic parts that “kind of fit.” If we can’t source a proper replacement, we’ll tell you before anything is ordered. Call (562) 912-3327 and we’ll identify the part you need.
Most PGT repairs in Long Beach run between $150 and $600 per unit depending on the issue. Replacing a fogged IGU on a WinGuard casement typically costs $350 to $700 per sash. Hardware replacement, like a corroded lock or worn rollers, usually runs $120 to $300 per window. Full window replacement ranges from $800 to $2,500 per opening depending on the PGT line, size, and whether it’s impact-rated. Call (562) 912-3327 for an exact quote. Estimates are free.
